OUR STORY

I knew it would be love at first sight, but I don't want you to love me just for my looks alone. Sure I have a great body and take great pride in my appearance, only the best in fashionable fabrics will touch this shape.

Most of all I don't want this to be a "love 'em and leave 'em" affair. It should be a lasting relationship built from a strong foundation. As you will learn, it is my inner beauty and strength that will give you years of pleasure. You will find me to be durable, yet soft, sturdy, yet gentle. Yes, I must admit I do have many great qualities.

Sit down, relax while I explain a few things about myself and my background. You will need to have as many answers as possible once your family and friends find out that there is a new love in your life

Did I mention I was a piece of furniture?

I apologize if I have aroused and excited you, but when was the last time you felt that good about a piece of furniture? I once learned it was much easier to have a serious conversation once both parties were comfortable with each other. So get comfortable and I'll continue my story.

The most exciting event in my life occurred in Scandinavia during the late 1950's and early 1960's ... my birth and development. What was born was a revolutionary technique used to produce upholstered furniture frames. Not just any furniture frames, but one that has no screws, nuts, bolts, dowels or glue joints. This new technique  produced a one piece, lightweight, yet extremely durable frame on which a sofa, loveseat or chair could be built.

If I can get technical for just one minute, I'll give you a brief summary of how I'm put together. The process uses small plastic pellets known as EPS (Expandable Poly Styrene) and large metal molds. Through a series of heating and curing stages the small pellets grow in size. Once a specific size is reached, these pellets are then vacuum fed into a mold cavity, which is the basic shape of a sofa, loveseat or chair is filled with the expanded pellets. Steam is then forced into the mold, further expanding  these pellets and at the same time bonding them together. The final expanding and bonding process results in a very dense strong, durable and long lasting frame. Now that you know enough to earn your engineering degree, let's move on.

From my early beginning, technicians refined and perfected my development. they monitored everything I did. They wanted to be sure I wouldn't break down, warp or crack, get out of shape or take on undesirable characteristics ... talk about a sheltered existence. As I matured, I was pampered with layers of foam to make me soft and comfortable. I wore nothing but the best and most fashionable fabrics.

During my development, it was learned that I could take on many shapes and sizes to fit the needs of the times. I learned to be multi-functional. I could open up to make a convenient sleep surface for that expected or unexpected guest; swivel and tilt mechanisms were added to some of my styles ... life was indeed exciting. Through it all, I stayed strong and sturdy, never failing to support the heavy burdens placed upon me.

My popularity in Scandinavia and Europe was so great that a number of American retailers heard about my unique qualities and came to see for themselves. Like you "it was love at first sight".  My reception in America was so overwhelming that the decision was made to build a factory in the states.

Although I still maintain my Scandinavian flair, I'm proud to say I am now "Made in America!"

Innovative thinking kept me ahead of the constantly changing times. New cushion treatments were developed to enhance my appeal, function and comfort. The same space age technologies that led to my initial development, created an entire new range of fibers and fabrics which are now used on many of my latest designs.

Before ever knowing how good I would look, how nice I could feel, or how sturdy and strong I could be, the technician's primary considerations were "How much will I cost" and "How long will I last". It was our initial intention to produce upholstered furniture which would have a long life and that everyone could afford without sacrificing design, quality, fashion or comfort ... that's what I call exceptional value!

Don't be embarrassed ... sit down, imagine we're alone at your place.

Feel the comfort and support my seat and back cushions provide .... go ahead, don't be shy.

Now ... pick me up. Come on, I'm not heavy.

I know what you are thinking, "How could anything that is so light weight be so strong an durable?"

Heavy is not always a measure of quality, strength or durability. As we discussed earlier, my strength comes from the most advanced technologies available in the upholstered furniture industry. Anyway, when was the last time you bought a pair of lead shoes?

Although it was "love at first sight" ... it should now be obvious that my "beauty is not only skin deep".

Hopefully, by now, you have decided to take me home. However, there is one more thing I feel you should know. To make you feel more comfortable and secure in our relationship, you should know that my frame comes with a 25 year warranty.

I am glad we had this opportunity to get to know each other better. I know we'll share many enjoyable years together.
